- The PDP has raised concerns to the UN, about alleged plans by the APC and INEC to rig the general elections slated for 2019
- The party asked the global body to stop the alleged plans, as it also disclosed that it suspected that the rigging will start from Borno state
- The PDP also challenged VP Osinbajo to present facts and figures showing how the GEJ govt allegedly shared N150bn, few weeks to the 2015 general elections
The United Nations has been asked by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to stop the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from rigging the 2019 general elections, Daily Trust reports.
The appeal was made by Prince Uche Secondus, national chairman of the PDP, when he received a UN delegation led by Mohammed Ibn Chambas at the PDP national secretariat in Abuja, on Wednesday, March 21.

NAIJ.com gathers that the national chairman warned that any attempt to impose an unpopular government would be resisted by Nigerians, as he stated that the opposition party had lost confidence in INEC’s ability to conduct credible polls.
He stated: "INEC has not lived up to expectations. It should come out in clear terms and be seen as an umpire. Since they took over, a lot of issues have trailed their conduct of elections.
"There are no perfect elections anywhere in the world, but there are glaring issues of concern. We suspect that INEC will rig the elections.
“We suspect that the rigging will start from Borno state, especially with the number of people in the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps.”
Secondus further chided the ruling party for engaging in blame games, and challenged Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to provide facts and figures on how the Goodluck Jonathan-led government allegedly shared the sum of N150 billion, few weeks to the 2015 general elections.
In his words: "They have stolen money more than all the governments in Nigeria since 1960 put together; this current government. What is going on is looting of public treasury.
"So we challenge the vice president to come out with facts and figures. Blame game for three years?"

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that the deputy Senate president, Ike Ekweremadu, said that with vigilance of Nigerian youths, nobody would be able to rig the 2019 general elections.
He also assured that the Peoples Democratic Party members in the National Assembly would not be intimidated from holding the government accountable.
A statement issued by Ekweremadu's special adviser on media, Uche Anichukwu, said his boss gave the assurances on Wednesday evening, March 14, when he received the national, zonal and state youth leaders of the PDP in his office.
