War of words: You lied about massive job decline in Buhari's administration - NBS boss blasts Omokri (read tweets)

- Yemi Kale, the Statistician-general of the federation, has blasted Reno Omokri for peddling fake reports about job decline witnessed in President Buhari's administration

- Responding to Omokri's claim, Kale said that such news are both false and unfounded, stating clearly that the Nigerian Bureau of Statistics (NBS) should be kept out of politics

- On his part, Omokri said that Kale went too far with his remarks against him, saying that for a man occupying such reputable office, decorum should be a watchword

There was a battle of words on social media on Monday, July 30, between the statistician-general of the federation, Yemi Kale, and Reno Omokri, a writer and rather controversial legal practitioner.

The rift started when in 2017 Omokri reported that there was a massive job loss throughout the country. In reply to Omokri's claim, Kale said that such news is false and unfounded, stating that there is no such decline going by the findings of the Nigerian Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

Omokri, in response, said that Kale went too far with his remarks, saying that being a public figure, the NBS boss should uphold decorum and civility is his statement.

However, Kale pointed out that Omokri is both trying to politicise the NBS and distracting people from the focus.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com reported that as part of the preparation for this year's celebration of Democracy Day on May 29, the presidency had reeled out the achievements of the Muhammadu Buhari-led administration in the last three years it has been in power.

In his inaugural speech, the president stated that his administration will focus on the economy, fight against corruption, and provision of security.
