Joao Moutinho scores as Wolves deny Manchester United maximum points at Old Trafford

- Joao Moutinho scores to deny Man United all three points at Old Trafford in their Premier League fixture this weekend

- Summer signing Fred opened scoring for the Red Devils earlier in the first half of the game

- United will battle Derby County next in their EFL Cup clash on Tuesday, September 25

Newly promoted Premier League outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers forced Manchester United to 1-1 draw at Old trafford on Saturday, September 26.

Brazil international Fred opened scoring for the Red Devils in the 18th minute of the meeting through a Paul Pogba's assist.

But a superb long range shot from Joao Moutinho in the 53rd minute restored parity for the visitors.

The visitors got the game off to a good start as Raul Jimenez tried David De Gea for the first time in the game but the Spaniard was well placed to save the ball.

Nuno Espírito Santo's men continued to push forward in search of their first goal at Old Trafford but all their efforts were going slightly off target.

Instead, the hosts grabbed the lead through a fantastic finish by the summer transfer signing in the first half.

And despite trailing by a lone goal, Wolves were unmoved as they attacked their hosts at every opportunity they got but weren't able to find the back of the net in the first half.

However, on return for the second half, Portuguese star Joao Moutinho equalised for his side after just eight minutes.

Man United manager Jose Mourinho made double substitutions in the 63rd in his bid to regain leadership in the game as he introduced Anthony Martial for Fred and Juan Mata for Alexis Sanchez.

Belgium international Romelu Lukaku was wasteful for the Red Devils after missing begging chances that could have given his side the lead before the blast of the final whistle.

The Old Trafford outfit are now sixth on the log with 10 points after six games and their next outing will be against Derby County in the EFL Cup.

NAIJ.com previously reported that Manchester United began their UEFA Champions League campaign in Group H, on a high note thrashing BSC Young Boys 3-0 on Wednesday, September 19, and picking up maximum points.

Young Boys did look the better side at the start of the encounter and tested United's number one shot-stopper David De Gea with a couple of long-range efforts, but to no avail.

United weathered the storm and showed sheer brilliance and raw tenacity in the fixture that was played on artificial turf - a turf United players were unaccustomed to playing on.
